How to Scan Documents With Your Phone — Free, No App to Install

Turn photos of paper documents into clean multi-page PDFs using just your phone's browser. Perspective correction included.

🔒 Every tool mentioned here runs on your device — your files are never uploaded

No scanner? Your phone camera plus a browser is enough. The trick is what happens after the photo: perspective correction, contrast cleanup, and packaging multiple pages into a single PDF — all of which can run directly on the phone.

Scan in 4 steps

  1. Open the Camera scanner on your phone and allow camera access (or pick photos you already took).
  2. Photograph each page — straight on, with the page filling most of the frame.
  3. Adjust the corner handles so the crop hugs the paper; the tool straightens the perspective automatically.
  4. Choose a mode ("B&W document" is great for text), then save all pages as one PDF.

Getting the sharpest result

After scanning

Combine multiple sessions with Merge PDF, shrink the result for email with Compress, or run OCR if you need to search or copy the text later. Since everything runs locally, scans of IDs and contracts never leave your phone.

Frequently asked questions

Do my photos get uploaded?

No. Correction and PDF packaging happen on your device — safe for ID cards and private paperwork.

Can I rescan just one bad page?

Yes — retake that photo and rebuild, or replace the page later using the Organize pages tool.

Which mode should I pick for receipts?

B&W document mode gives the best contrast for faded thermal-paper receipts.
