How to convert PDF to Word (3 steps)

Check first: is your file a document or a scan?
Open the PDF and try to drag your mouse across some text. If the letters highlight, the file contains real text and converts straight away. If nothing happens, or the whole page highlights like a picture, it's a scan — run it through OCR first, or you'll get an empty Word file.
What carries over to Word, and what doesn't
- All the text — carries over, including letters, numbers, and symbols.
- Headings — detected from text that is larger than the body text, and made large and bold.
- Images — carry over. Images at the top of a page are placed before its text; others are placed after that page's text.
- Tables — mostly. A real Word table is created when columns line up across several lines. Complex tables or merged cells may need some tidying.
- Colors, backgrounds, and borders — don't carry over. The goal is editable text, not a copy of the page design.
- Scanned files — have no text to extract. Use OCR first.
Why converted text can come out wrong
A PDF doesn't store words or sentences — only individual characters with coordinates — so a converter has to work out which characters belong together. MyPDF compares the actual gap between characters with the font size on that line: a small gap means the same word, a medium gap becomes a space, and an unusually wide gap is treated as a separate column and written as a tab, so tables stay readable in Word.
Some fonts also store characters in private codes that ordinary converters can't read. For Thai, MyPDF maps these back to standard characters, so vowels and tone marks aren't lost.
Common problems and fixes
- The font looks odd in Word — the font set in the file isn't installed on your computer, so Word substitutes another. Press Ctrl+A in Word and choose a font you have.
- Lines break in the middle of sentences — the original used justified text, which stretched the spacing between words. In Word, use Find and Replace (Ctrl+H) to remove the unwanted line breaks.
- You want tables in Excel — if you need to work with the numbers, use the PDF to Excel tool instead. Columns are split automatically based on spacing.
Document privacy
Files converted to Word are often contracts, quotations, or CVs. MyPDF does all the processing in your own browser — the file is never sent to a server. The original isn't stored; the Word file stays in your browser's "Recent files" list for 24 hours, and you can delete it yourself. Once the page has loaded, you can even disconnect from the internet and keep working.

Will the original formatting be kept?
All text is extracted with page breaks matching the original, which suits text-based documents best. Images and seals come across too, but very complex tables may need extra formatting. Check the result before you use it.
