N-up PDF — Print Multiple Pages per Sheet
Put 2, 4, or 9 PDF pages on a single A4 sheet to use less paper when you print.
Shrink several pages onto one sheet in a 2-up, 4-up, or 9-up layout. It suits lecture slides, study notes, and handouts, and cuts the number of sheets you print several times over.
How to put multiple pages on one sheet (3 steps)

When it's useful
- Printing lecture slides — an 80-slide deck at 4 pages per sheet comes down to 20 sheets.
- Printing a draft for review — see the layout of the whole document without using a lot of paper.
- Handouts for a class or meeting — several pages on one sheet are easier to hand out and carry.
Layouts and how small the text gets
Every layout produces A4 sheets with a margin of about 5 mm around each cell. Each page is scaled to keep its original proportions — never stretched or squashed.
- 2 pages per sheet — landscape A4, side by side. An A4 page ends up at about 67% of its real size and stays comfortable to read.
- 4 pages per sheet — portrait A4 in a 2×2 grid, at about 46%. Good for slides with large text.
- 9 pages per sheet — portrait A4 in a 3×3 grid, at about 30%. Useful for an overview, not for content that needs close reading.
The original pages are placed as vectors, not converted to images, so the text stays sharp even when it's small. Pages that are rotated in the original file are placed upright, just as they appear on screen.
Tips
- For ordinary text documents, stay at 2 pages per sheet. Slides work comfortably at 4 pages per sheet.
- If you want double-sided printing, set that in your printer settings after you have the file.

Will the text be too small?

My original is landscape slides. Will there be a lot of empty space?
Pages are scaled to keep their proportions so nothing is distorted, so landscape slides in portrait cells leave some space above and below. Try both 2 and 4 pages per sheet and pick whichever reads more easily.
Do blank pages in the original cause problems?
No. A blank page just becomes an empty cell on that sheet. If you don't want it, remove blank pages first.
